How to install NextImage Software on a Windows PC

To install Contex scanner software:

1. The software ONLY works on a Windows PC, normally Windows 10 or 11, 32b or 64b
2. Be sure to have your scanner OFF, or unplugged from the PC
3. Download any drivers shown from the first link, or use the USB key provided
4. If a previous version of NextImage is installed
   • Uninstall it
5. Install all software in any order, often:
   • WideSystem – the Windows driver
     • Depending on the version of WideSystem, Scanner maintenance might be part of this
   • NextImage – the scanning software
   • Scanner maintenance if a standalone software
   • The newest firmware
     • 95% of the time, there is no reason to update your firmware
   • AFTER all software is physical loaded and installed
   • Reboot the PC
   • After the PC is rebooted, let Windows come up 100%
   • ONLY then should you attach the scanner or turn it on
   • At that point, a dialog box in Windows should say
     • Oh, you installed a New USB device, would you like to install the drivers for this? 
   • Once Windows is happy and the scanner is on
   • You should see a new scanner icon in the lower right-hand corner near the system clock.
     • Click on that to see your scanner listed with no errors.
       • If so, Windows is 100%
   • NextImage, your main scanning software is ready to run.
